Online registration now open for our Spring Recreation Programs

Register online for our Spring programs

Online registration is open as of Thursday, April 17 for spring recreation programs in the Township of Severn.

Programs include adult and senior fitness programming and all ages arts programs. Most programs start late April or early May and vary from six to eight weeks. 

About online registration

Registration and payment can be completed online. If you would like to register for more than one program, please complete a new registration form for each class. Each participant requires a separate registration form.

Payment options

You can pay for program registration online with Mastercard, Visa, or Visa debit only (we do not accept credit cards other than Mastercard or Visa). We do not accept Mastercard debit. 

If you choose to pay using Mastercard, Visa, or Visa debit a two percent fee will be applied to your purchase. The Township is required to pay a merchant fee (surcharge) to cover the cost of processing each credit card transaction. This fee is applied as a cost-recovery measure to only those transactions that are paid by credit card, and not to other forms of payment.

Description

Get ready to move, groove, and have a blast with Zumba Dance Fit.

This beginner-friendly class combines jazz, disco, hip-hop, and Latin-inspired rhythms to create a high-energy workout that feels more like a dance party. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or just starting out, our experienced instructor, Diana, will guide you through the steps beforehand, making it easy to follow along and enjoy the experience. You won’t even realize you’re exercising because you’ll be having so much fun. This class is perfect for all fitness levels and anyone looking to stay active while dancing to exciting beats. 

Participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement and bring indoor running shoes and a reusable water bottle.

Description

The Beyond Beginner Yoga class is for people with some yoga experience who want to move into sequencing and a wider variety of postures. The class will focus heavily on modifications and adaptations so that practitioners can meet their individual needs within a class setting. We borrow heavily from other movement modalities to build strength and flexibility as well as developing balance and increasing range of motion. Props are encouraged and incorporated throughout the class.

Participants should wear comfortable, flexible clothing suitable for movement and bring a reusable water bottle.

While yoga mats are provided on-site, please bring your own if you have one.

Description

This class is designed for people who want to take a more gentle approach to their physical activity.

Open to all levels, participants will move through a range of classic yoga postures, mobility exercises and breath work.

With a step-by-step approach to movement this class offers modifications to accommodate a range of individual needs as well as props for comfort and support when needed. The class will blend strength building, flexibility, balance and coordination with relaxation and breath work throughout this one hour class.

Participants should wear comfortable, flexible clothing suitable for movement and bring a reusable water bottle.

Art programs

Participants can learn the basics of watercolour painting with our beginner course, or further explore watercolour as a tool for creative expression in our Intermediate course. 

Description

Are you ready to explore the vibrant world of watercolour? Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience and want to refine your skills, this 6-week watercolour painting class is the perfect opportunity to unleash your creativity and learn essential techniques. 

Throughout the six weeks, you’ll dive into: 

  • Watercolour essentials: Understanding materials and how to use them effectively 

  • Colour mixing and value: Create dynamic and harmonious palettes 

  • Brush techniques and textures: Experiment with strokes to add depth and detail 

  • Composition: Learn to plan and balance your artwork 

  • and more

This class is instructed by local artist Melissa Van Dam. Melissa has been teaching and creating with graphite, watercolourand acrylics in the Orillia area for over 15 years. She also recently completed 100 paintings in 100 days in the watercolour medium, all of which can be found on her website and social media.

Description

Are you ready to take your watercolour skills to the next level? Whether you have completed the beginner class or have some experience and want more of a challenge, this 6-week watercolour painting class is the perfect opportunity to unleash your creativity and learn essential techniques.

Youth Art program

How to register for a Youth program

Pickleball drop-in schedule starts May 13

Pickleball enthusiasts, rejoice! The beloved sport is back, as are drop-in programs at the Coldwater Community Centre (11 Michael Anne Drive) and the Washago Community Centre (4361 Hamilton Street). 

No need to register, simply show up and play. We provide all the equipment you need, but feel free to bring your own paddle if you have one.

Parks and trails currently closed

A reminder that all parks and trails in Severn are currently closed until further notice due to unsafe conditions following the recent ice storm. This includes any park assets, such as outdoor sports courts, the dog park, and any skateboard parks and pump tracks. Your safety is our top priority. 

Parks and trails are being thoroughly assessed and clean up is beginning, however, this will take some time. Please respect signage, temporary barricades, and caution tape as we work to ensure a safe environment for everyone. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Severn is developing a Master Plan for the Coldwater Fairgrounds. Public input is important to help us determine how the Township can best utilize this important community asset. Culture and Recreation Advisory Committee 

The Culture and Recreation Advisory Committee advises Council about culture and recreational programming in Severn. Meetings are held virtually six times a year on the second or third Tuesday of the month. This month's meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 and can be watched on our YouTube channel.
