Potable water station available in Washago and Coldwater for residents

Potable water stations are available for residents who may continue to have no power and those who rely on wells. The current locations that can be accessed by the public are the indoor taps at the Washago Community Centre (4361 Hamilton Street) and the Coldwater Water Supply and Distribution System (14 Sheridan Drive).

If you use water from a private well, a power outage will normally cause the water pump to fail. In this situation you should use an alternate source of safe water, such as commercially bottled water or visit the potable water station in Coldwater.

Township of Severn has been monitoring the impacts of the ice storm, and we are aware that some of our rural residents remain without power after many have already had their service restored. To support our residents, the Township has installed potable water stations at two locations in Severn to provide access to drinkable water. Emergencies can happen, and when a power outage occurs, it’s crucial to know how to react and which steps to take first by having an Emergency Plan for yourself and your family. Severn’s Emergency Control Group has been working to maintain essential services, ensure the safety of our roads and infrastructure, and minimize the impact on our community and our overall operations. We encourage anyone needing assistance to reach out to our Customer Care Team or to visit the County of Simcoe’s Ice Storm Information page for more support.

- Mayor Mike Burkett, Township of Severn
