Potential high water notice: Severn River, Sparrow Lake, and Six Mile Lake
On Friday, March 14, 2025, the Ministry of Natural Resources - Aurora Midhurst Owen Sound District issued a Watershed Conditions Statement - Flood Outlook for Severn River, Sparrow Lake and Six Lake as water levels and flows are to increase over the upcoming week.
Runoff to local lakes and rivers may increase significantly with forecasted rainfall and warmer temperatures.
Residents that have been affected by high water and flow conditions in the past should continue to take necessary action to protect and secure any vulnerable property in proximity to rivers and lakes.
In response to the potential high water levels, the Township has created 3 self-serve sandbag stations at:
- Washago Centennial Park (3376 Quetton Street)
- Intersection of Cambrian Road and Canal Road
- Lauderdale Point Crescent (Peninsula Point Road and Bennett Avenue)
Self-serve stations include sand and burlap bags, but residents are required to bring their own shovels. Please note, these stations are self-serve and no delivery is available. The stations will remain open and monitored until the waters have receded and are no longer a threat to property.
Should self-serve stations requiring emergency deliveries of sand and burlap bags, please contact the Public Works Department at 1-833-896-9963.
