Ward Boundary Review: Public open houses CANCELLED
Ward Boundary Review project update
The Township has postponed the public open houses scheduled for April 2 and 3 due to impacts from the ice storm. New dates will be announced. Subscribe to our News and Notices to stay informed.
Severn is reviewing its ward boundaries to ensure it continues to be an effective and equitable system of representation that keeps pace with population growth.
Guiding principles for the review include:
- balancing present and future population distribution among the wards
- respecting established neighborhoods and communities
- respecting geographic features and defining natural and infrastructure boundaries.
Since the project was initiated in Fall 2024, the project team has completed research, hosted a Council workshop (October), led online and in-person engagement activities (interviews, surveys, and public open houses, Fall 2024), and provided interim reports to Council (Winter 2024 to 2025).
For the next phase of the project, the consultant will present the Preliminary Options report to Council on March 26, 2025 at the Corporate Services Committee meeting starting at 9:00 a.m. Members of the public are welcome to attend in-person (1024 Hurlwood Lane), watch our live stream, or watch the recording afterwards on our YouTube channel.
Following the presentation of the various preliminary options to Council on March 26, the Township will hold open houses to obtain public feedback on these options.
Public consultation is an essential piece of the review process. A ward boundary change means the lines dividing different neighbourhoods and areas of Severn may be redrawn. This can affect which area you vote in and who represents you on Severn Council and influence how municipal decisions are made.
