Brush and debris information: Updated May 15, 2025

The County of Simcoe is continuing to prioritize our community and others that were hardest hit from the ice storm for brush and debris pick-up.

The County has asked that residents place all brush and debris safely by the side of the road by Monday, May 19.

Crews will return to Severn automatically for one final collection after May 19. It could multiple weeks for the County to collect all brush and debris in Severn. If you have a concern about brush pick-up, please contact Service Simcoe by email to service@simcoe.ca or reach out by telephone at 705-735-6901.

The County has also waived brush drop-off fees at all County waste facilities until the end of June. Dropping off brush at a waste facility is the fastest way for residents to clear debris off their property.

For all waste location details and hours, visit the County's website.

Tips for winter cart collection

When setting out your carts in winter:

  • shovel a flat spot at the end of your driveway or curb
  • place your carts with two feet of space all around
  • place carts within eight feet of the road
  • don’t place carts behind or on top of snowbanks

You can put out two garbage bags each garbage collection week. If you'd like to put out an additional garbage bag, you need to attach a bag tag to any additional garbage bags. You can use up to six garbage bag tags at a time for a total of eight garbage bags.

It costs $15 for five bag tags and you can purchase tags at the following locations:

You can use any of the County of Simcoe Landfill Sites and Transfer stations for large items.

We partner with the County of Simcoe to provide annual community programs such as Pitch In Week and the Mulch Giveaway. Visit our community calendar for more information.
