Examples of activities requiring a permit:
- construction of a new entrance
- changing the location of an existing entrance
- changing the design or width of an existing entrance
- changing a temporary entrance to a permanent entrance
- changing the use of the land into which the entrance provides access
- constructing a headwall or decorative structure to an entrance
- applying asphalt, concrete or any other road surfacing material to an entrance
Approval process
The property owner needs to complete and submit an entrance permit application at least ten working days in advance of the work. The entrance permit is valid for six months.
Next steps
After the entrance permit has been issued, the contractor must submit a road occupancy permit application for the installation of the entrance. Detailed requirements such as the size or materials will based on current Municipal Standards and included for the contractor's reference.
