Coldwater River / Matchedash Bay

The Coldwater River / Matchedash Bay water trail begins at the municipal dock at Upper Big Chute Road and Coldwater Road. This is a relatively easy paddle that takes between three and four hours to complete.

Description

Paddle to the junction of North River and turn west (left) to Matchedash Bay. High bulrushes can make navigation tricky in some places. We recommend avoiding this trail during duck hunting season. You can access Georgian Bay by travelling under the 400 highway at the northwesterly end of Matchedash Bay. Depending on the season, Coldwater River may have currents.

MacLean Lake

The MacLean Lake water trail begins at the municipal dock at Henry's Landing off Irish Line. This is a relatively easy paddle that takes approximately five to six hours.

Description

Travel south from the Township dock through the narrows at the south end of the lake. Alternatively, you can travel north from the township dock into the Severn River. MacLean Lake is developed on the northern portion but largely undeveloped on the two southern arms. MacLean Lake and Severn River can be busy with motorized watercraft traffic, so always paddle with caution.

Tea Lake

The Tea Lake water trail begins off Upper Big Chute Road. This relatively easy paddle takes approximately three to four hours.

Description

Tea Lake provides a nice day paddle. The lake is built up with cottages but there is an arm of the lake in the south end that is not developed.

Severn River

The Severn River water trail begins at the municipal dock in Severn Falls. This is a moderately difficult trail and takes approximately three to four hours.

Description

Paddle a portion of the Trent-Severn Waterway from the Township dock in Severn Falls. The Trent-Severn Waterway can be busy with motorized boat traffic.

Sparrow Lake

The Sparrow Lake water trail begins near the municipal dock on Port Stanton Parkway and has a private parking lot (fees may apply). This a moderately difficult paddle that takes approximately three to four hours.

Description

Sparrow Lake is a shallow lake with picturesque islands. There is a public beach in the Town of Gravenhurst at the north end of the lake with washrooms. The lake is fully developed with cottages. It is possible to access Kashe River and the Trent Severn Waterway from Sparrow Lake. The lake can be busy with motorized boat traffic. Monitor weather conditions as the shallow lake can get wavy quickly when it is windy.

Green River

The Green River water trail begins at the municipal dock on Albany Street. This is an easy to moderate paddle that takes approximately three to four hours.

Description

Paddle the Green River and Severn River to Wasdell Falls from the Township dock in Washago. It is possible to access the watercourse next to Alexander Hope-Smith Nature Reserve after a small liftover.

Lake Couchiching

The Lake Couchiching water trail begins at the municipal dock located near Washago Centennial Park. This is an easy to moderate paddle that takes between three and four hours.

Description

Take a tour Lake Couchiching, a big lake with a couple of large islands. Monitor weather conditions as the shallow lake can get wavy quickly when windy. Lake Couchiching can be busy with motorized watercrafts.
