Severn Fire and Emergency Services has achieved Superior Tanker Shuttle Accreditation. Superior Tanker Shuttle Accreditation is a program of the Fire Underwriters Survey that recognizes a fire department’s ability to shuttle water by way of tanker trucks to fight fires in areas without municipal hydrants. Based on beach water testing results taken on August 14, the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) is informing residents and visitors to the Township of Severn that a swimming advisory is in place at the Washago Centennial Park beach as E. Coli levels currently exceed the recreational guidelines. The beach will be posted with signs informing park users of the swimming advisory.

Notice of road closure

Coldwater Road (Mill Street to Sturgeon Bay Road) and Mill Street (Coldwater Road to Eplett Street) in Coldwater will be closed on Saturday, August 17 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the Magical World of Witchcraft and Wizardry event. A detour will be available via Michael Anne Drive.
