Notice of nominations for the 2022 Municipal Election

Severn, Ontario: Municipal Elections will be held in October 2022. The term of office will be November 15, 2022 to November 14, 2026.    

Notice is hereby given that as of May 2, 2022 nominations may be filed in person, or by an agent, in the Clerk’s Office (1024 Hurlwood Lane, Severn) during normal office hours prior to Nomination Day, or on Nomination Day being Friday, August 19, 2022 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. 

Nominations must be submitted on the prescribed form and must include:

  • endorsement signatures from 25 eligible electors (form available at our Administration Office or on our website)
  • be signed by the person being nominated
  • be accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee ($200 for Head of Council and $100 for all other offices)

Information as to qualifications for candidates may be obtained at our Administration Office or on our website.

Nomination Papers must be filed with the Clerk before you can accept contributions or spend money for your campaign.

The offices for which persons may be nominated are:

  • Mayor – 1 to be elected (at large)
  • Deputy Mayor – 1 to be elected (at large)
  • Councillor, Ward 1 – 1 to be elected
  • Councillor, Ward 2 – 1 to be elected
  • Councillor, Ward 3 – 1 to be elected
  • Councillor, Ward 4 – 1 to be elected
  • Councillor, Ward 5 – 1 to be elected

Candidates for the offices of Mayor or Deputy, please take note that, whether appointed or  elected, you will also serve as a member of Council for the County of Simcoe. 

School Trustees

  • Member - English Language Public District Board (file at the City of Orillia)
  • Member - English Language Separate District Board (file at the City of Orillia)
  • Member - French Language Public District Board (file at the City of Barrie)
  • Member - French Language Separate District Board (file at the City of Barrie)
