Notice of winter parking restrictions effective December 1
Winter parking restrictions
Although the snow has been slow to arrive, we appreciate that many residents and others have already avoided parking on the streets. A reminder that winter parking restrictions will be in effect from December 1 to March 31. Please note, parking is not allowed on any road between the hours of 12:01 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. Vehicles may be ticketed or towed regardless of snow clearing operations and weather conditions.
Snow and ice removal on your property
Residents and businesses are responsible for removing snow and ice on your property. You are encouraged to remove snow or ice from sidewalks near your property.
If you are a senior or person in need that requires assistance clearing snow, please contact Snow Angels Canada. This program connects those in need with volunteers in their area that can help with snow removal.
Help ensure our roads are cleared safely and efficiently
Please:
- don’t park on the road
- don’t deposit snow on the road (this is in violation of the Highway Traffic Act and creates unsafe conditions)
- keep mailboxes visible, in good condition, and clear of snow
- promptly remove waste collection bins and carts after collection
- keep fire hydrants clear by removing snow and ice within a one-meter radius of the hydrant (in the case of an emergency, the faster fire services can access the hydrant, the faster they can respond to an emergency)
- ensure your green civic address sign is visible and posted at the end of your driveway
- if you must drive, drive according to conditions and give yourself extra time to get where you need to go
If you have any questions or concerns about the winter parking restrictions, please contact the Customer Care Assistant.
Winter instructions for waste collection
County of Simcoe provides waste management services in Severn.
A reminder to residents and businesses to:
- clear the snow away from a flat spot at the end of your driveway or at the curb for your carts
- place carts within eight feet of the traveled section of the road (this allows the automated arm to reach the carts and snow clearing equipment can still pass by)
- please do not place carts behind or on top of snowbanks
For questions related to waste collection or cart placement, please contact the County of Simcoe.
