Project notice: Severn Falls shorewall reconstruction

Severn, Ontario: The Severn Falls Dock shorewall rehabilitation project is scheduled to begin by October 10, 2023. The project will involve removing and reconstructing the existing shorewall at 1730 Earl Haid Avenue in Severn Falls. This work will improve public water access at Severn Falls, ensure user safety, and allow for more effective maintenance of the area. 

The rehabilitation work will include:

• use of a temporary coffer dam system (a watertight enclosure pumped dry to allow construction work to occur below the waterline)
•  dewatering and minor dredging
• excavation of parts of the rehabilitation area
• installation of:
  • precast concrete interlocking blocks
  • concrete coping and wood bumper
  • precast trench drain inlet structure
  • permeable interlocking concrete pavers
  • concrete sidewalk
  • asphalt paving

Restoration of any disturbed public amenities will be completed prior to the end of the project.

Your safety and those of visitors will be prioritized during the construction. McPherson-Andrews Contracting Ltd. will be implementing various safety measures, such as:

• construction access gates
• security fencing
• temporary concrete barriers
• warning signs

These precautions aim to ensure that you can safely enjoy the area while the construction work takes place; however, short-duration access restrictions and dock closures should be expected.

The project is anticipated to be complete by winter 2023, with some final project tasks and restoration scheduled for spring 2024. Your cooperation during this improvement project is appreciated. Regular updates will be provided about the project's progress.
