Severn truck used for winter control operations

Our crews have been hard at work over the weekend, ensuring that all roads are open and passable. We appreciate the cooperation by residents and others in regards to our winter parking restrictions

Snow removal to improve access and visibility will begin on Monday, February 17 with snow transported by dump trucks to designated storage sites.  Snow removal operations will take place during the days and overnights, with the work expected to continue through to the end of the week. Visit our Roads and Parking page to view the removal schedule and what to expect.

The public is also reminded to clear snow around their homes, ensuring that vents for dryers, furnaces, water heaters and other heating appliances are not covered by snow to prevent the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. Please keep fire hydrants clear by removing snow and ice within a one-meter radius of the hydrant (in the case of an emergency, the faster fire services can access the hydrant, the faster they can respond to an emergency).

How you can help

Please:

  • don’t park on the road
  • don't park overnight in any municipal parking lot including lots at our community centres
  • don’t place snow on the road (this is in violation of the Highway Traffic Act and creates unsafe conditions)
  • keep mailboxes visible, in good condition, and clear of snow
  • promptly remove waste collection bins and carts after collection
  • ensure your green civic address sign is visible and posted at the end of your driveway
  • if you must drive, drive according to conditions and give yourself extra time to get where you need to go
