Snow removal scheduled for Washago and Coldwater

Snow clearing (plowing and sanding) and snow removal (picking up snow and moving it away) are two very different services in Severn. In most cases, snow can be managed within the existing road allowance with snowbank heights not exceeding the height defined by our Winter Control Policy. After heavy or continued snowfalls, it sometimes becomes necessary to reduce snow banks in size when they begin to restrict sightlines, travel widths, and pedestrian traffic.

*Operations are weather dependent and times subject to change. 

Drivers and pedestrians are requested to avoid the active work areas. A reminder that with winter parking restrictions in place from December 1 to March 31, you can't park on any road in Severn between the hours of 12:01 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. Vehicles that are parked on the roadway during that time may ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.

Help ensure our roads are cleared safely and efficiently

Please:

• don’t park on the road
• don’t deposit snow on the road (this is in violation of the Highway Traffic Act and creates unsafe conditions)
• keep mailboxes visible, in good condition, and clear of snow
• promptly remove waste collection bins and carts after collection
• keep fire hydrants clear of snow and accessible (in the case of an emergency, the faster fire services can access the hydrant, the faster they can respond to an emergency)
• if you must drive, drive according to conditions and give yourself extra time to get where you need to go
